WASF First Online AI Sports International Forum

The inaugural WASF Online AI Sports International Forum brings together researchers, engineers, sports federation leaders, and educators to discuss how artificial intelligence is reshaping refereeing, coaching, training, and athlete development worldwide.

Topics include: AI-assisted officiating and its role in fairness and transparency; computer vision and edge computing for real-time motion analysis; ethical and data-governance considerations for biometric and performance data; and the future of hybrid human-AI judging panels in international competition.

The forum lasted two hours and was held via Tencent Meeting. The following is a record of the meeting.

I. Brief Introduction to the Organizational Structure of the World AI Sports Federation (WAISF)
The organization comprises three board members, one deputy secretary-general, and three specialized committees.
The three specialized committee chairs introduce their respective committees and primary areas of work:

WAISF AR & VR Virtual Sports Committee
Researches and sets standards for augmented- and virtual-reality applications in sports training and competition, including AR glasses/HUD integrations and virtual/digital-twin training environments.
Isaac Xu, University of Toronto
WAISF AI Ethics & Data Governance Committee
Reviews WAISF's AI-assisted sports standards regarding privacy, fairness, and safety, and establishes data governance requirements—including on-device biometric processing and data retention rules—that certified AI systems must meet. Also oversees AI-themed short video production and scriptwriting.

WAISF Youth & Development Committee
The Youth & Development Committee promotes AI and digital sports education for young people, organizes youth-focused AI sports events and training programs, and builds global partnerships to support grassroots sports innovation.

Introduction by Wang Shuangzhong:
Three Board Members: Wang Shuangzhong serves as Chairman, Xie Hao as Secretary-General, and Liu Shuai as Head of Finance. Federation affairs are decided via voting; funds generated are not distributed as dividends but are fully reinvested into the Federation's development, as it operates as a non-profit sports organization.
One Deputy Secretary-General: Chloe Wang (Wang Zhuo), who assists the Board in managing international affairs and is responsible for innovation in AI sports events.
The application for US federal 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status is currently in progress. The Federation aims to continuously recruit professionals from around the world and gradually refine its organizational structure.
Three Specialized Committees.
WAISF has currently established its first scientific research liaison office in Toronto, Canada. Isaac Xu coordinates research on sports AI ethics, data security, and privacy protection across various countries, and oversees the production of AI-themed animated short videos featuring AI robots. WAISF does not currently plan to establish cross-border branches or representative offices. III. Complete List of Attending Guests

Key topics included the advantages and limitations of AI in sports, as well as the democratization and inclusive development of AI technology.
